Education and Scholarships

 AFCEA Hawaii is now accepting ACFEA Hawaii Merit Scholarship applications for 2010-2011 Academic Year

 Several $2000 scholarships will be awarded and one $3000 scholarship to a student attending a college/university in Hawaii.

 APPLICATION DEADLINE: May 1, 2010

For High School Students:  High School Scholarship Application

Eligibility criteria:  Applicant must be graduating from a public (includes home schooling) or private high school in Hawaii.  Applicant must indicate an intention to major in a discipline that supports AFCEA Hawaii Fields of Interest (communications, IT, intelligence, and global security).  Before any scholarship checks are mailed, awardees must be accepted into an accredited 4-year college/university anywhere in the United States.

For College Students:  College Scholarship Application

Eligibility criteria:  Applicant must provide college/university transcripts that document successful completion of the number of hours that constitute at least one academic year of credit at the institution of attendance.  Applicant must indicate an intention to major in a discipline that supports AFCEA Hawaii Fields of Interest (communications, IT, intelligence, and global security)

 The following items will be taken into account by the scholarship selection committee when awarding scholarships:

o        Academic standing; e.g. GPA, class standing

o        Types of courses taken

o        Community involvement

o        Demonstrated leadership

o        Extracurricular activities and

o        Letters of Recommendation

o        Financial need
